FAQS

1. Should I leave my water feature operating all winter?

At Zaquatics, we recommend closing all types of water features to ensure you encounter no issues during the cold months. Potential issues include pipe bursts and leaky waterfalls.

2. How can I prepare my water feature for the fall and winter months?

We recommend either hiring a professional or following these steps if you choose to do it yourself:

1. Place a net over the feature to minimize the amount of debris that enters.
2. Shut off the waterfall and remove the pump. Store the pump in a warm place, submerged in a bucket of water.
3. Drain the lines using a shop vac.
4. If you have a pond, place an aerator on the top shelf along with a de-icer to ensure there is at least a small hole in the ice to allow oxygen to pass through.

3. Should I feed my fish in the winter?

When the water temperature reaches approximately 55 degrees, fish should not be fed at all. Their digestive systems slow down considerably, and feeding them can potentially be fatal.

4. How much does maintenance roughly cost?

Maintenance costs vary depending on the size, type, and specific needs of your water feature. For more detailed information, please contact us directly.
